The main immigration office in Bangkok is Immigration Division 1 of the Immigration Bureau, in Building B of the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, on Chaeng Watthana Road in Lak Si district, in the north of the city. This is where foreigners staying in Bangkok go in person for immigration matters such as extending their permission to stay. The nearest rail station is Government Complex on the MRT Pink Line, which opened in November 2023 and made the trip far easier than it used to be.

The address: Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, Building B
The Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, formally the Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary, is a large campus of national government buildings in Thung Song Hong subdistrict, Lak Si district. It was completed in 2008 and is split into two main buildings:
- Building A (the Ratchaburidirekrit Building) holds the courts and justice agencies.
- Building B (the Ratthaprasatphakdi Building) holds administrative agencies, including the Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau. Immigration Division 1, which serves Bangkok, is here.
The street address used for the immigration office is 120 Chaeng Watthana Road, Building B, Thung Song Hong, Lak Si, Bangkok 10210. When you give directions to a taxi or a ride-hailing driver, "Government Complex Chaeng Watthana, Building B" (in Thai, Soon Ratchakan Chaeng Watthana, Akhan B) is the clearest instruction.
How to get to the immigration office
By MRT Pink Line
Government Complex station (PK12) on the MRT Pink Line sits on Chaeng Watthana Road beside the complex, and Immigration Division 1 is listed among its exits. The Pink Line is a monorail that runs east to west across northern Bangkok, so most visitors reach it by changing from another line:
- From the BTS Sukhumvit Line: change at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat, where the Pink Line crosses the BTS, then ride west toward Nonthaburi Civic Center.
- From the SRT Dark Red Line: change at Lak Si, then ride west toward Nonthaburi Civic Center. Government Complex is two stops from Lak Si.
- From the MRT Purple Line: change at Nonthaburi Civic Center, the Pink Line's western terminus. Note that this interchange is in Nonthaburi Province, outside the city.

By taxi or ride-hailing
A taxi or a Grab car drops you at the building entrance, which helps if you are carrying documents in the rain. Traffic on the roads into the north of the city can be heavy at rush hour, so rail is usually more predictable. See our guide to using Grab in Bangkok.

Before you go
- Check the rules first. Thailand's visa-exemption rules changed more than once in 2026, and how long you can stay depends on your passport. - Allow plenty of time. The office serves the whole of Bangkok, so plan on a long visit rather than squeezing it between other plans.

Immigration Bureau or TAT: which do you need?
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is the national tourism agency, not an immigration office. It cannot extend a stay or process an immigration application. Its head office is at 1600 New Phetchaburi Road, Makkasan, in Ratchathewi district, and it runs the TAT Call Centre on 1672 for general travel questions. For anything to do with your permission to stay, go to the Immigration Bureau.
