Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok
About
Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok was the first Kimpton in Southeast Asia, and it plays the brand's hand: a design-led, relaxed hotel on Soi Ton Son in Langsuan, with a garden at its base and a rooftop bar on the 40th floor. It has 360 rooms, 97 of them serviced residences.
It suits travelers who want a social hotel rather than a formal one, longer stays that need a kitchen, and anyone traveling with a pet, since pets of any size or breed stay at no extra charge. Lumphini Park and Central Embassy are close by, BTS Chit Lom is an 800-meter walk from Exit 4, and a free hotel van runs guests to the station on request.
Rooms and residences
Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows over the skyline or the garden below, and the design mixes Thai craft and natural materials with the tower's clean lines. The residences run from a 65-square-meter one-bedroom with a balcony to a 175-square-meter three-bedroom, each with a kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a separate living space. Connecting rooms, accessible rooms and pet-free rooms for guests with allergies are available.
Pool, spa and gym
The infinity pool sits in a planted garden on the 3rd floor, and amaranth spa on the 4th floor offers massages, facials and OPI nail care built on Thai techniques. The gym never closes for hotel guests, every room has a yoga mat, and free daily classes include yoga, HIIT, street dance and Thai boxing. The hotel is also Thailand's first official HYROX training club.
Kimpton habits
Two daily rituals set the tone: a hosted Morning Kick Start with coffee and tea in the lobby, and an evening Social Hour pouring house wines, cocktails and soft drinks at no charge. Bikes are available to borrow, and the “Forgot It? We’ve Got It!” program covers everything from phone chargers to hair straighteners.
Recognition
The MICHELIN Guide awards the hotel One MICHELIN Key, and AVANT, the tasting-menu restaurant on the 30th floor, holds one MICHELIN star.
Restaurants and bars
Six restaurants and bars share the building. Ms.Jigger, Ruby's and CRAFT are on the lobby level, Stock.Room is on the 5th floor, AVANT on the 30th and Bar.Yard on the 40th.
AVANT is chef Haikal Johari's contemporary French restaurant with Asian influences and a seafood-forward tasting menu built largely on Japanese produce. It holds one MICHELIN star, operates independently of the hotel and takes advance reservations only.
Bar.Yard is the 40th-floor rooftop bar, air-conditioned inside, with Peruvian chef Julio César Concha Muñoz cooking Pan-Latin and Thai dishes and DJs later in the evening. The dress code is “contemporary cool”.
Ms.Jigger is the Italian restaurant, led by Piedmont-born chef Danilo Aiassa, with pasta, pizza, long lunches and an Italian-style afternoon tea; dogs are welcome on its terrace during the day.
Ruby's, next door, is a 16-seat cocktail bar whose menu is written around precious stones, with alcohol-free drinks given the same care; booking ahead is strongly recommended.
Stock.Room handles breakfast and all-day dining over the garden, with open kitchens and a nightly Sea+Land buffet of seafood and grilled meats. CRAFT is the lobby café and bar, pouring coffee from Karo Coffee Roasters in Nan province by day and beer and cocktails at night; it is walk-in only and pets are welcome inside and on the terrace.
