Chao Phraya dinner cruises in Bangkok come in three kinds: big buffet boats with a live band, newer show cruises that lean on Thai dance, and one served set-menu rice barge. Choose by the evening you want (an early sunset sailing, a late dinner or a quiet served meal) and by the pier you can reach easily, because the river loop is much the same on all of them. For a boat-by-boat comparison of the buffet operators, including the hotel-run Saffron and Okura cruises, see our guide to the main dinner cruises on the river; this page helps you pick the style.
Everything below comes from each operator's own website, read on October 3, 2026. Schedules and promotional prices change, and every price quoted is a "from" price the operator showed that day, not what a particular night will cost.

What kinds of Chao Phraya dinner cruise are there?
There are three. Buffet boats (Chao Phraya Princess, White Orchid, Royal Princess, The Opulence and Meridian) serve an international buffet with live music, and several add Thai classical dance. Show cruises (Sawasdee Chaophraya and The Chaophraya Cruise) sell the performance as part of the evening. Manohra is the outlier: an antique rice barge that serves a set menu in courses instead of a buffet line.

Which dinner cruise is best for a sunset sailing?
Meridian's Sunset Cruise leaves ICONSIAM at 5 p.m. and runs about 1 hour 45 minutes, with registration from 3:30 p.m. The Luxury White's Twilight cruise from Asiatique is listed from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Both finish before full dark, so you see Wat Arun and the Grand Palace in daylight, then the first lights. Check the sunset time for your date before you choose, because the gap between daylight and dark changes through the year.
Which dinner cruise is best for a late night?
The Opulence runs 8 to 10:15 p.m. from ICONSIAM Pier 2, and its operator lists daily sailings. Meridian's dinner cruise boards at 8 p.m. The Luxury White lists ICONSIAM dinner sailings at 7:45 and 8:15 p.m., the later one ending at 10:15. Manohra's third seating runs from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., with check-in at 8 p.m.
Which dinner cruise gives you a quiet, served meal?
Manohra. Anantara Riverside Bangkok runs it on a restored antique rice barge, with a set menu and a premium set menu instead of a buffet. Its three seatings are 6 to 8 p.m. (check-in at 5:30), 7 to 9 p.m. (check-in at 6:30) and 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. (check-in at 8). Anantara shows a starting price of THB 3,500 and sample dishes such as scallop ceviche, crab and galangal coconut broth, a char-grilled river prawn and mango sticky rice. That is roughly three times the buffet boats' from-prices or more, so it suits an occasion rather than a casual night out.
Which cruises have a Thai dance show?
Sawasdee Chaophraya says its program may include Thai traditional dance and a Khon-style cultural performance. The Chaophraya Cruise lists live music with professional singers and a traditional Thai greeting dance. Royal Princess lists Thai classical dance, and Meridian says traditional Thai performances are part of its dinner sailing but not the sunset one. Chao Phraya Princess lists live music in its inclusions and does not mention dance.

Which dinner cruise suits families, vegetarians and halal diets?
Meridian welcomes children, applies discounted child prices at booking, says the cruise is wheelchair accessible, and lists vegetarian choices in its buffet; anyone with serious allergies is asked to contact the team before travelling. Sawasdee Chaophraya shows THB 1,400 for adults and THB 900 for children, and says vegetarian meals are possible with advance notice. Royal Princess says its menu is designed to be Muslim-friendly. For any other dietary need, ask the operator before you book rather than relying on the buffet.
Which pier should you choose?
Pick the pier first if you are staying near the river. ICONSIAM serves Meridian, The Opulence, Sawasdee Chaophraya and The Luxury White's dinner sailings. Asiatique The Riverfront serves White Orchid, Royal Princess, The Chaophraya Cruise and The Luxury White's Twilight cruise. Chao Phraya Princess boards at the pier beside River City Bangkok unless you ask for another 24 hours ahead. Royal Princess's own directions are to take the BTS to Saphan Taksin, leave by Exit 2 and ride the boat from the pier there to Asiatique. Manohra boards at the Anantara resort on the Thon Buri bank. Our guide to the best riverside hotels in Bangkok shows which hotels sit close to each pier.
What are the cancellation and late-arrival rules?
Read them before you pay, because they differ. Royal Princess says its booking is non-refundable unless your confirmation says otherwise, that the boat leaves on time at 7:30 p.m., and that late arrivals count as no-shows. If it rains, guests with outdoor seats may be moved indoors. Meridian's site advertises free cancellation up to 48 hours ahead and says no-shows and same-day cancellations are charged in full. Terms on a booking platform can differ from the operator's own, so rely on your confirmation.

About two hours on the cruises listed here. Royal Princess runs 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Sawasdee Chaophraya 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. and The Chaophraya Cruise 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Meridian's dinner cruise is about two hours and its sunset cruise about 1 hour 45 minutes. Manohra's seatings are two hours each. Arrive 30 minutes early where the operator asks for it.
On the operators' own sites on October 3, 2026, the lowest from-prices were THB 850 for The Luxury White's Twilight cruise, THB 899 for White Orchid and THB 990 for Royal Princess. Chao Phraya Princess showed a promotional THB 1,200, marked down from THB 1,900. Sawasdee Chaophraya showed THB 1,400 for adults and Manohra started at THB 3,500. The price depends on the seat type and the date, and promotions change.
None of the operator pages we read states one. If it matters to you, ask the operator or check your voucher. Manohra, the served-menu barge, is the one most likely to feel dressier, but its page does not say so.
Royal Princess says its menu is designed to be Muslim-friendly. Meridian lists vegetarian choices in its buffet and asks guests with serious allergies to contact the team before travelling. Sawasdee Chaophraya says vegetarian meals are available with advance notice. Tell the operator your requirement at booking.
Meridian says children are welcome and applies discounted child prices automatically at booking. Sawasdee Chaophraya lists a child price of THB 900. For other cruises, check the child policy on the booking page.
Royal Princess says guests with outdoor seating may be moved to an indoor area for safety and comfort. Its route can also change with the river's water level. Choose an air-conditioned deck if you do not want to depend on the weather.
It depends on the operator and where you booked. Royal Princess says its booking is non-refundable unless the confirmation says otherwise. Meridian's site advertises free cancellation up to 48 hours before and charges in full for same-day cancellations and no-shows. Check your confirmation, because a marketplace's terms can differ.
Royal Princess's directions are to take the BTS to Saphan Taksin, use Exit 2 and ride the boat from the pier there to Asiatique. ICONSIAM and River City have their own riverside approaches, and Manohra sails from the Anantara resort on the Thon Buri side, so confirm the check-in point on your voucher.
