A night bike tour in Bangkok is a guided evening ride through Chinatown, the flower market and across the Chao Phraya River to Thonburi, when the air is cooler and the roads are calmer than by day. Two established operators with their own websites run scheduled night tours: Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours, from River City in Talat Noi, and Follow Me Bike Tours, from Si Phraya near MRT Sam Yan. Both include a street-food meal and a river crossing, and both publish their prices.

Co van Kessel: Co by Night
Co van Kessel runs Co by Night from its office on the ground floor of River City Bangkok on Charoen Krung Soi 24, beside the Chao Phraya. The company describes the office as near Hua Lamphong train station and its MRT station. The tour starts at 6 p.m., lasts about three hours and covers about 12 km.
The route, as the company describes it, runs through Chinatown's lit streets and Pak Khlong Talat, Bangkok's largest flower market, then crosses the river to Thonburi for residential lanes, a local temple and views back to the city skyline. The operator says it doesn't fix the route in advance, adapting it to festivals and the changing city. A street-food meal, usually about halfway, is included, along with a guide, a city bike, helmets if you want one, and drinks and snacks.
The company says its tours run at a leisurely pace with frequent stops, and that children from five and adults up to 80 have joined them. It also notes that routes use narrow alleys and raised paths over water, so you need to be comfortable on a bike. The night tour runs daily when a minimum number of guests books. If you'd rather ride in daylight, the company's Co Classical tour covers Chinatown, Talat Noi and Thonburi in three hours from the same office, with 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. departures.
Follow Me Bike Tours: Siam Ratree Night Tour
Follow Me Bike Tours, established in 2010 and listing a Tourism Authority of Thailand licence number on its site, runs the Siam Ratree Night Tour from its office at 230 Naret Road in Si Phraya, Bang Rak. The tour starts at 5 p.m., lasts about four hours, is graded easy with a relaxed pace, and is capped at eight guests.
The published route begins in Talat Noi's old lanes and a Chinese shrine, crosses the river by local ferry to Thonburi, and stops at Wat Prayoon's white chedi before returning over Memorial Bridge. It then passes through Pak Khlong Talat flower market, rides past the illuminated Grand Palace area and the Giant Swing, and finishes with a street-side dinner in Chinatown. The company notes that the Grand Palace is closed at night, so riders see it only from outside.
The price includes a licensed English-speaking guide, bikes for adults and children, child seats, helmets, reflective belts and lights, drinks and snacks, the ferry, dinner, entrance fees, and insurance during the tour. Payment is in cash, in baht, at the start.

- Start time and length: Co van Kessel starts at 6 p.m. for about three hours; Follow Me starts at 5 p.m. for about four hours, so it sets off before dark.

Before you book
- Comfort on a bike matters more than fitness. Both operators pace their night tours for ordinary riders, but narrow lanes, ramps and other traffic need steady handling. Canada's travel advice for Thailand asks cyclists and pedestrians to take particular care on the roads.
- Dress for temples. Co van Kessel asks guests to cover shoulders and bring a sarong for temple stops. Light, breathable clothes work best even at night.
- Tell the operator about your diet. Both include a meal, and Co van Kessel says vegetarian and other dietary options are available if you let the guide know.
- Book ahead. Follow Me caps groups at eight, and Co van Kessel's night tour runs only when a minimum number of guests books.
