When is Loy Krathong 2026 in Bangkok?
Loy Krathong is celebrated nationwide on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month, which falls in November, according to TAT. TAT had not announced the 2026 date or the Bangkok events when we checked on September 26, 2026, so check TAT's announcements in October before you fix your dates.
On the night, people float krathong, small offerings of flowers and candles, on rivers, canals and ponds. In 2025, TAT's Bangkok River Festival ran from November 3 to 5 at nine piers on the Chao Phraya, including Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Kalayanamit, Asiatique The Riverfront and ICONSIAM, with river parades, performances and food. In 2024, TAT's Bangkok festival was held on the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal. Good places to float a krathong include the riverside around Wat Arun and Wat Kalayanamit, and the promenade at Asiatique The Riverfront. Choose a krathong made from natural materials such as banana leaf.

Bangkok Art Biennale: TAT says the fifth edition runs from October 29, 2026 to February 28, 2027, under the theme Angels and Mara, across museums, cultural landmarks, religious sites and public venues.
Vijit Chao Phraya: in 2025, TAT's riverside light festival ran from November 9 to December 23, with light installations, projection mapping, drones and fireworks across bridges, temples and landmarks on both banks. Watch for a 2026 announcement.
Golden Mount: TAT describes the Golden Mount Festival as creating a candlelit atmosphere around Wat Saket and the Golden Mount. Climb the mount at any time of year for views over the Old City.
What else is there to do in Bangkok in November?
With the rain easing, November is the month to be outdoors again. Walk the Old City temples, including Wat Pho; take the river boats; picnic in Lumphini Park; and spend evenings at the city's markets and rooftop bars. November has no bank holidays in 2026, according to the Bank of Thailand, so there are no nationwide closures to plan around.
Is November a good time to visit Bangkok?
