Banyan Tree Bangkok
About
Banyan Tree Bangkok is the slender 61-storey tower on South Sathorn Road, best known for the open-air Vertigo and Moon Bar on its roof. Those rooftop venues, along with Vertigo TOO, the Chinese restaurant Bai Yun and the Thai restaurant Saffron, are temporarily closed for a redesign the hotel describes as a new chapter, so check their status before you plan an evening around them.
What remains is a spa-led business hotel with generous rooms: standard rooms are 48 square meters with separate bath and shower and floor-to-ceiling windows. It suits business travelers in the Sathorn and Silom offices and couples who want a spa within the building. The nearest stations are MRT Lumphini and BTS Sala Daeng, and the hotel runs a free scheduled tuk-tuk shuttle to both.
Rooms and suites
Most room categories share the same 48-square-meter layout and differ by height and outlook, city or park, with Panorama Club and Vertigo Club rooms adding access to the 19th-floor Club Lounge. The Wellbeing Sanctuary rooms are set up for spa-focused stays, and the Two-Bedroom Serenity Suite of 119 to 143 square meters has two bathrooms and a kitchenette, which works for a family of four.
Spa, pool and fitness
Banyan Tree Spa's signature treatments include the Royal Banyan, a massage with a warm herbal pouch, and the Tropical Rainmist with a Thai herbal wrap and ginger bath. The spa also runs beginner Muay Thai, sound healing with singing bowls, yoga and breathing sessions. The 25-meter outdoor pool is on the 21st floor, surrounded by greenery and served by a juice bar, and the 24-hour Health Club has daily classes, a steam room and a sauna.
Around the hotel
The hotel puts Lumphini Park and the nearest malls within a 7 to 10 minute walk, with Silom Complex the closest shopping center. For the Grand Palace it suggests the BTS to Saphan Taksin and a river boat, about 50 minutes in total.
Meetings and events
The Banyan Ballroom on the 10th floor has a five-meter ceiling, natural light and room for 400 guests, and there are 12 further meeting rooms.
Recognition
The hotel lists Forbes Travel Guide Recommended status every year from 2023 to 2026.
Restaurants, bars and river cruises
Open now inside the tower:
Saffron Grill is the hotel's newest Thai restaurant, cooking over real flame with white charcoal, longan wood and coconut husk, and drawing on regional Thai ingredients such as northern ma kwaen pepper. It serves lunch and dinner daily; dress is smart casual.
Romsai is the international buffet restaurant in a garden setting with cascading water, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a Sunday brunch.
Saisons is a cocktail bar built around Thailand's three seasons, with Thai craft spirits, botanical cocktails, small plates, cheese and charcuterie, and an afternoon tea. The Juice Bar serves juices and light meals by the pool, and in-room dining runs 24 hours.
On the river:
Saffron Cruise is a two-deck boat with an open-air Moon Deck bar and a four-course Thai dinner, departing from ICONSIAM. Apsara Cruise is a restored teak rice barge serving a five-course Thai menu by Chef Chophet, departing from River City and gliding past Wat Arun and the Grand Palace.
Temporarily closed for redesign: Vertigo, the open-air grill restaurant on the 61st floor; the adjacent Moon Bar; Vertigo TOO on the 60th floor; Bai Yun (Chinese); and Saffron (Thai).
