Rooms and suites

Classic rooms measure 45 square meters and fill Levels 17 to 24, with Classic High Floor rooms above them on Levels 25 to 30. Bathrooms pair a deep soaking tub with a separate rain shower, stocked with Byredo products in the rooms and Chopard in the suites. Premium rooms and suites come with Club InterContinental, whose lounge on Level 37 serves breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks, and suite guests also have a butler. The largest of the 39 suites is the 250-square-meter Royal Suite, with its own study and dining room.

Rooftop pool, fitness and spa

The free-form pool sits 37 stories up, with a bar beside it for drinks and light bites against the skyline. Infinity Fitness has a boxing ring, used for 90-minute Muay Thai sessions with a trainer or a professional coach, and separate saunas and steam rooms for men and women. Spa InterContinental, one floor below the pool on Level 36, offers Thai and Western massage and Elemis facials in blocks of one to three hours.

Getting around

Because the BTS is at the door, most of central Bangkok is a train ride rather than a traffic jam. From Suvarnabhumi, the hotel suggests the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai and a change to the BTS for Chidlom; by car it allows about an hour from Suvarnabhumi and about 30 minutes from Don Mueang. Parking is free for guests, and the concierge can book a tuk-tuk for exploring nearby neighborhoods.

Restaurants and bars

Restaurants, bars and a bakery café fill the ground, lobby and mezzanine levels. Smart casual dress suits most of them, walk-ins are welcome, and the hotel recommends booking for weekends, public holidays and peak meal times.

Fireplace Grill and Bar, on the ground level, cooks European heritage dishes such as French onion soup, Dover sole and prime rib around an open show kitchen, finishing with crêpes Suzette. Its bar works for a drink before or after dinner, and two private dining rooms take small groups.

Summer Palace, on the mezzanine, serves Cantonese food under Executive Chinese Chef Shui Wing Yau and dim sum chef Pui Kwan Chan, either à la carte or as all-you-can-eat dim sum, with 10 private dining rooms for family meals and banquets.

Espresso, also on the mezzanine, is the buffet restaurant: breakfast every day, a weekday lunch spread, a seafood dinner with lobster, crab and oysters from Wednesday to Sunday, and a Sunday brunch cooked at live stations.

SoCal is the casual street-level café, mixing Italian dishes with Levantine mezze and grills in an open-air setting. Balcony Lounge overlooks the lobby, serving afternoon tea with more than 30 loose-leaf teas and turning into a cocktail bar in the evening, with live piano in the afternoons from Monday to Saturday. Butter is the lobby bakery for croissants, cakes and takeaway sandwiches, and the Humidor pairs single malts with imported cigars from Cuba and elsewhere.
