Which airlines fly direct to Bangkok from London? As of September 2026, the two airlines we could confirm on their own websites are Thai Airways, which flies from London Heathrow, and British Airways, which flies from London Gatwick. Both land at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok's main international airport, and the nonstop flight takes around 12 hours.
Many more airlines sell London to Bangkok tickets with one stop, usually in the Gulf, Istanbul or elsewhere in Asia, and those can be cheaper. But if you want to board in London and get off in Bangkok, these are the options to compare.
Thai Airways: London Heathrow to Bangkok
Thai Airways, Thailand's national carrier, lists London Heathrow among its European destinations from its Bangkok hub, alongside cities such as Paris, Frankfurt and Zurich. Flying with the home airline has practical advantages: you arrive at its hub at Suvarnabhumi, where its domestic and regional flights connect, and Thai Airways is a member of Star Alliance, so partner-airline miles and status can apply.

British Airways: London Gatwick to Bangkok
British Airways returned to Bangkok in October 2024 after more than four years away, flying from London Gatwick rather than Heathrow. The first flight left Gatwick at 9:15 p.m. and landed at Suvarnabhumi at 4:10 p.m. local time the next day. The route started as winter-only, but British Airways announced that from summer 2026 it would run year-round: three flights a week in summer and six a week in the winter season. In March 2026 the airline also added extra Bangkok services to meet demand.
British Airways also has a codeshare with Bangkok Airways, which lets you book onward flights from Bangkok to holiday destinations such as Koh Samui and Phuket on one ticket.
Heathrow or Gatwick: how to choose
- Frequency. Check both airlines for your dates; British Airways' Gatwick service is not daily, so your travel days may decide it.
- Which London airport is easier for you. Heathrow suits west London and much of the UK's rail network; Gatwick suits south London and the south coast.
- Loyalty programs. Thai Airways is in Star Alliance; British Airways is in oneworld.
- Onward travel in Thailand. Both can connect you beyond Bangkok, through Thai Airways' own network or British Airways' partnership with Bangkok Airways.

After you land at Suvarnabhumi
Suvarnabhumi lies east of central Bangkok, just across the city boundary in Samut Prakan province. From the terminal, the Airport Rail Link runs into the city, ending at Phaya Thai, where you can change to the BTS Skytrain. Taxis and ride-hailing cars are the other main options.
