The fifth Bangkok Art Biennale runs from October 29, 2026 to February 28, 2027, spreading contemporary art across temples, museums and shopping centers in the city. This edition is titled Angels & Mara, a theme that plays on Bangkok's Thai name, Krung Thep, the City of Angels, and sets it against Mara, the Buddhist figure of temptation and fear.

Artistic director Apinan Poshyananda leads the curatorial team, with Bangkok Art and Culture Centre director Adulaya Hoontrakul among the curators. Artists announced so far include Leiko Ikemura, Sin Wai Kin, Channatip Chanvipava, Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, Nobuyoshi Araki and Mel Chin.

Where to see it

The biennale's venue list for 2026 names Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Wat Prayoon, Museum Siam, the National Museum Bangkok, the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, One Bangkok, Siam Paragon, centralwOrld and the Art Centre at Silpakorn University.

• Old town cluster: Wat Pho, Museum Siam and the National Museum sit on the Rattanakosin side of the river; Wat Arun is a short ferry ride across.
• Downtown cluster: BACC, Siam Paragon and centralwOrld are on Rama I Road around the BTS Siam and National Stadium stations.
• Wat Prayoon is on the Thonburi bank, and One Bangkok is on Wireless Road at Rama IV.

Tickets and entry

BAB describes itself as a freely accessible platform. During the 2024 edition, the temples and the National Museum still charged their normal entrance fee, and temples ask visitors to dress politely, with shoulders and knees covered. Check the biennale site for 2026 admission before you plan a temple day.

Good to know

With more than 40 artists over ten venues and four months, the biennale works best in two or three half-day trips grouped by area rather than one long day. The downtown venues are indoors and air-conditioned, which makes them a good choice for hot afternoons.
