Who runs Isola by Signor Sassi
Isola by Signor Sassi belongs to the San Carlo group, the British company behind San Carlo, Cicchetti, Signor Sassi and Isola restaurants in the UK, the Middle East and elsewhere. The group lists the Bangkok restaurant among its international locations, and its Isola brand has one other branch, in Marylebone, London. The Bangkok name joins two of the group's brands: Isola, which takes its cue from the Italian islands and the Riviera, and Signor Sassi, the group's Knightsbridge restaurant.
Gaysorn Village's own directory page adds the local detail. It describes the restaurant as the story of the two brands under San Carlo, led by Akarawin Taechaubol of Akara Hospitality, with an Italian general manager and Italian chefs in the kitchen.
What is on the menu
San Carlo describes the Isola menu as fresh seafood, handmade pasta and Mediterranean dishes made with seasonal ingredients, and names Mediterranean cod and Sicilian prawns among its signature dishes. The Bangkok page stresses sharing: dishes are designed to go into the middle of the table, which makes Isola better for a group of four than for a quick solo lunch.
Neither San Carlo nor Gaysorn Village publishes the Bangkok menu with prices in a form we could check, so ask for the current menu when you book. If you want a Thai tasting menu instead, Paste Bangkok is in the same building, on the third floor of Gaysorn Centre.
The dining rooms
The restaurant has two rooms. San Carlo calls the Lemon Room bright and sunlit and the Blue Room the serene one; photos of the restaurant show lemon branches hung over the tables in the first and blue walls with tiled detail in the second. The group describes Isola interiors in general as traditional ceramics, greenery and warm Mediterranean colors. If you have a preference, say so when you reserve.
Where it is and how to get there
Gaysorn Village is a cluster of three buildings, Gaysorn Centre, Gaysorn Tower and Gaysorn Amarin, on the Ratchaprasong intersection, where Phloen Chit, Ratchadamri and Rama I roads meet. Isola is on the G floor of Gaysorn Centre. The Erawan Shrine is on the same corner, so a visit to the shrine and a meal at Isola fit together easily.
Traffic on this intersection is heavy at rush hour, so the elevated BTS Skytrain is usually an easier approach than a taxi. Several hotels are within about a kilometer of Gaysorn, measured on the map: Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is about 270 meters away on Ratchadamri Road, Anantara Siam Bangkok about 450 meters and The St. Regis Bangkok about 550 meters. Those are straight-line distances; the walk is longer and crosses busy roads.

- Reservations: San Carlo's website has a booking page for the Bangkok restaurant, and Gaysorn Village lists its phone number. For weekend dinners or a large group, book ahead.
- Private and group dining: the San Carlo group takes group and private-dining enquiries through its website.
- Opening hours: check before you go. The hours on the Gaysorn Village directory were garbled when we checked, and San Carlo does not list them.

Choose Isola if you want Italian food in central Bangkok, in a setting built for a celebration, with a menu weighted to seafood and pasta for sharing.
