Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok review: a garden resort on the river, good for families and pets

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River is a riverside hotel that behaves more like a resort: low buildings, courtyards and gardens instead of a single tower, with its pools facing the Chao Phraya. It opened in December 2020, holds Two MICHELIN Keys, and is one of the easier luxury hotels in Bangkok for families and for travelers with a dog or cat. The compromise is a location on the quieter end of Charoen Krung Road, a boat ride or a 15-minute walk from the nearest Skytrain station.

Location and getting around

The hotel is at 300/1 Charoen Krung Road in Sathon, on the east bank near Charoen Krung Soi 62, within the Chao Phraya Estate development. Saphan Taksin BTS station, Exit 4, is about 15 minutes on foot, which is manageable in the cooler hours and less appealing at midday. The more useful link is the hotel's own pier: complimentary boats run every 30 minutes to Sathorn Pier, where the BTS stops, and every hour to ICONSIAM, between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Morning seats before 10 a.m. must be reserved.

The surrounding stretch of Charoen Krung is known for galleries and restaurants, and Saphan Taksin puts you close to the rooftop venues of lebua at State Tower, which the hotel there places about five minutes' walk from the station. Sukhumvit and the malls around Siam are a boat and train ride away, or a drive that depends heavily on traffic.

Rooms and suites

There are 299 keys: 282 rooms and 17 suites, split between a 12-floor Cascade Building and a four-floor Palm Courtyard Building. Rooms start at about 50 square meters and suites reach 300, all with high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and deep soaking tubs alongside rain showers. Every room looks onto either the river or the gardens, so, as at most riverside hotels, the view is the decision to make when booking. Signature suites add large private terraces. The architects were Hamiltons, the interiors are by Jean-Michel Gathy, and the restaurants were dressed by the design studio AvroKO. Art is part of the fabric rather than an afterthought: ART Space by MOCA, a gallery curated with MOCA Bangkok, the contemporary art museum in Chatuchak, changes its exhibition every quarter, and Thai artworks run through the public areas.

Dining and bars

The hotel runs seven restaurants, bars and cafés, and three of them appear in the MICHELIN Guide's Bangkok selection, although none currently holds a star. Yu Ting Yuan is the Cantonese room under Chef Tommy Cheung, with dim sum, barbecue and Peking duck from an open kitchen and private dining rooms for groups. Riva del Fiume serves handmade pasta and wood-fired Neapolitan pizza on the river, and Brasserie Palmier is a French brasserie with an oyster bar and outdoor tables; it closes on Mondays.

The bar is the part of the hotel that draws people from across town. BKK Social Club takes its cue from Mexico City's drinking culture, in an Art Nouveau salon with two courtyards, one of them for cigars, and the hotel reports it at No. 20 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026. Chao Phraya Terrace, a seasonal Thai grill on the riverfront cooking over lychee wood from Nan province and coconut charcoal, with produce from small Thai farms, completes the line-up with The Lounge for afternoon tea and Café Madeleine for pastries.

Pool, spa and fitness

Two temperature-controlled infinity pools face the river, with a separate children's pool. The 2,500-square-meter Urban Wellness Centre is the larger draw for active travelers: a 35-meter lap pool beside the gym, studios for classes from Muay Thai to aerial yoga, physiotherapy, a hair salon, barber and nail salon, and a spa with nine treatment rooms, including two for couples and a suite with its own vitality pool and indoor garden.

Families, pets and accessibility

For families, the Kids for All Seasons club beside the main pool is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for ages 4 to 12, free for registered guests with a reservation, and babysitting is available. That daily schedule is a practical advantage over clubs that open only at weekends. Adults can book Thai workshops in garland-making, slow-drip Thai coffee, tea blending and calligraphy.

The pet policy is unusually generous for a Bangkok hotel: dogs and cats up to 27 kg are welcome in designated rooms and suites, on a leash in designated public areas and on select outdoor restaurant terraces, and there is an in-room dining menu for pets. We did not find published accessibility details on the pages we could verify, so ask the hotel directly about accessible rooms.

Who it suits, and the alternatives

This Four Seasons suits families, travelers with a pet, and anyone who wants a resort-style river stay with a strong bar and gym. It suits less well someone whose plans center on Sukhumvit nightlife or daily shopping at Siam, or a food trip built around starred dining under one roof.
