Where Is Platinum Mall Located in Bangkok? Address, BTS and How to Get There

Platinum Mall, officially The Platinum Fashion Mall, is located at 222 Phetchaburi Road in Bangkok's Ratchathewi district, on the corner where Phetchaburi Road meets Ratchadamri Road in the Pratunam garment district. The nearest rail link is BTS Chit Lom: the mall's own directions say to use exit 6 and follow the R-Walk elevated walkway. It opens daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

It is a large wholesale and retail fashion mall, with more than 2,500 shops by the mall's own count, selling men's and women's clothing, bags, leather goods, shoes and accessories. That makes it one of the first stops for anyone buying clothes in quantity, and a practical one for travelers who simply want inexpensive everyday clothing.

Where Platinum Mall is in relation to the rest of Bangkok

Pratunam sits just north of the Ratchaprasong shopping area in central Bangkok. Ratchadamri Road runs south from the mall toward the Ratchaprasong intersection, where the Erawan Shrine and the big malls around it are, so Platinum is easy to combine with a day of shopping in the center. Because of the traffic on Phetchaburi and Ratchadamri roads, rail and boat are usually quicker than a taxi at busy times. If you are staying nearby, hotels around Ratchaprasong such as the Anantara Siam Bangkok and Waldorf Astoria Bangkok put you in the same part of the city.

How to get to Platinum Mall

The mall lists five ways to reach it:

• BTS Skytrain: Chit Lom station, exit 6, then the R-Walk. If you are new to the Skytrain, see how to buy a BTS ticket.
• Airport Rail Link: Ratchaprarop station, which the mall recommends for arrivals from the airport.
• Canal boat: the Pratunam pier on Khlong Saen Saep.
• Bus: several city bus routes stop nearby; the list is in the FAQ below.
• Taxi or car: ask for the corner of Ratchadamri and Phetchaburi roads.

What you will find inside

The building is divided into zones and floors, and the mall's directory lists each shop by floor and room number, for example 2nd floor, room 427. Note the zone and room number of any shop you like, because many units sell similar goods and it is easy to lose one in the rows.

• Clothing and accessories: most of the building is fashion, from women's and men's clothing to children's wear, bags and shoes.
• Food: the mall's food floor is on the 6th floor (zone 1), and a Thai food zone is on the 5th floor (zone 3). Coffee chains, bakeries and snack counters are spread across the basement, ground floor and upper floors.
• Visitor services: an information counter, tourist information, prayer rooms and first aid rooms. The mall also runs a registration scheme for international tourists that gives access to offers from participating stores.

Buying wholesale

Platinum describes itself as a wholesale fashion hub, and many shops sell by the piece and in larger quantities. Terms vary from shop to shop, so ask about minimum quantities and pricing before you choose. Tips for visiting

• Go early. The mall opens at 9 a.m., and the aisles are easier to walk in the morning.
• Bring a bag or a small trolley if you plan to buy in quantity.
• Keep your hotel card handy for the taxi home; the mall's corner address is the simplest one to give drivers.
