Baan Tepa Culinary Space
About
Baan Tepa is Chef Chudaree “Tam” Debhakam's Thai tasting-menu restaurant in her family's historic house on Ramkhamhaeng Road, and it holds two MICHELIN stars and a MICHELIN Green Star. The name joins baan, Thai for home, with Tepa, from the family name Debhakam; the house belonged to her grandmother, Lady Suwaree Debhakam, and has been in the family for three generations.
It suits diners who care where their food comes from: the menu tracks native crop varieties and regional producers, and the evening begins in the garden, where guests can taste herbs grown on site. The house is in Hua Mak, Bang Kapi, well east of the central hotel districts, so plan on a taxi or car and allow for evening traffic when booking one of the three fixed seatings.
Seven courses
Every guest is served the same seven-course menu, presented by the chefs. The current one opens with paa khao, a spread of stuffed cucumber, fermented vegetable rolls and relishes, then moves through a clear soup with Taphao Thong chicken broth, fried grey pomfret with house-smoked fish sauce, a course of Thai legumes and river prawn with chamuang. Forgotten Cuts brings beef tongue, udder, cheek and shank, from a trip to Khon Kaen in search of better Thai beef, and the meal closes with Thai desserts and rice caramel. Earlier signatures include Dong Dang, rice noodles inspired by a technique from Udon Thani.
Garden and kitchen
The compound has three parts: the house, the kitchen and Tepa Garden. According to the MICHELIN Guide, food scraps are turned into seasonings, crab shells are reused in table settings and fruit and vegetable waste is composted. Since 2023 the team has run Baan Tepa on Tour, cooking with and learning from local communities around Thailand.
The chef
Chef Tam studied nutrition and food science at the University of Nottingham, trained at the International Culinary Center in New York and interned at Jean-Georges before spending two years at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The restaurant says she was the first Thai female chef to earn two MICHELIN stars and was named Asia's Best Female Chef by Asia's 50 Best Restaurants in 2025.
Private dining
The Garden Wing seats 8 to 14 guests at a single imperial hardwood table under a high ceiling, and is booked by email.
