Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie
About
Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie is the French restaurant of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, a room that opened in 1958 as Le Normandie Grill and in 1969 became what the hotel calls Bangkok's first true fine-dining destination. It is now run under Anne-Sophie Pic, whose family restaurant in Valence holds three MICHELIN stars, and it holds two MICHELIN stars in the 2026 Thailand guide.
It suits a formal celebration, at lunch or dinner, and diners who want French haute cuisine with a sense of occasion and a view of the Chao Phraya. The restaurant is inside Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok in Bang Rak, the old trading district off Charoen Krung Road, and is open from Wednesday to Sunday.
The chef and her cooking
Pic calls her approach Suffusion, a layering of aromas that carries from the dishes into the drinks. Her signature berlingots are on the menu here, filled with local cow's cheese and paired with maitake, coffee and sobacha, alongside wild sea bass with Oscietra caviar and Champagne sauce, a dish her father Jacques Pic first served in 1971. The MICHELIN Guide notes that she works with a Japanese head chef, Tamaki Kobayashi, and Mandarin Oriental describes Pic as the most MICHELIN-starred female chef in the world.
The room
Le Normandie was the first French restaurant in Thailand recognized by Les Grandes Tables du Monde. The current dining room, redesigned by the Paris studio Humbert & Poyet, keeps the sense of an old institution while looking out over the river.
Choosing a menu
Diners can order à la carte, with a minimum of three dishes each, or choose a set menu: a three-course business lunch from Wednesday to Friday, a four-course lunch at weekends, and the seven-course Voyage menu. Pairings come with or without alcohol. Groups of six or more book directly with the restaurant, and everyone at the table takes the same format, set menu or à la carte.
Before you book
Men need a jacket at dinner, and the restaurant can lend one on request. Tell the kitchen about dietary requirements at least 48 hours ahead, which is also the deadline for changing or cancelling without a charge.
Also at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok
The hotel runs 12 restaurants and bars, including The China House by Chef Fei for Cantonese and Chaoshan food, Baan Phraya's Thai set menu across the river, afternoon tea in The Authors' Lounge and live jazz at The Bamboo Bar. The Mandarin Oriental listing covers them all.
