Saneh Jaan
About
Saneh Jaan is named after a traditional Thai dessert served at auspicious occasions, a choice the restaurant made to signal its purpose: keeping the authentic taste of Thai food, cooked from ingredients sourced across the country's regions. It holds one MICHELIN star in the 2026 Thailand guide, whose inspectors note recipes drawn from Thai royal and regional archives, and the guide features it among Bangkok's least expensive starred restaurants.
It suits a polished Thai lunch or dinner for business, a family celebration or a first proper meal of classic Thai cooking, with a la carte, set lunch and set dinner menus to choose from. The restaurant is in Sindhorn Tower on Wireless Road in Lumphini, Pathum Wan, and it is open every day for both lunch and dinner.
A room built on Thai ingredients
The dining room has a contemporary, luxurious feel, hung with artwork and with poems by Naowarat Pongpaiboon, the National Artist in Literature and S.E.A. Write Award winner. From the menus to the tableware, drawings of Thai ingredients such as holy basil, garlic vine, eggplant, chili, ivy gourd and roselle are worked into the patterns.
Royal recipes and slow braises
The crispy rice vermicelli with river prawn follows a royal recipe dating to the reign of King Rama V, sharpened with bitter orange. The blue swimmer crab curry with wild betel leaves is the house signature, and the five-spice egg with Kurobuta pork, free-range duck egg and homemade tofu is braised at low heat for three days before it is served. Kaeng run juan, a spicy herbal pork soup first recorded under Rama V, shares the menu with a beef massaman curry and a grilled rib eye with the house jaew sauce.
Save room for the namesake
The dessert list includes khanom saneh jaan itself, made with rice flour, steamed golden beans, coconut milk, sugar and nutmeg, a sweet the restaurant says will let whoever eats it charm everyone around them. Khao mao raang, an old-fashioned sweet made from young green rice as the harvest nears, and a two-layer coconut ice cream are other choices.
Private rooms and events
Three private rooms, Jaan Proong, Jaan Prang and Jaan Hom, serve groups who want privacy, and Jaan Jaroong is a lounge for wine and the restaurant's own drinks. Saneh Jaan also caters weddings, cocktail parties, company dinners and product launches.
