Choosing a Bangkok rooftop bar comes down to three things: how you get in, what you are allowed to wear, and what the sky might do. Some bars, such as Sky Bar and Tichuca, take no reservations at all, others sell tables, and a few have rules, from covered shoes to original passports, that can turn you away at the door. This guide collects those rules from each venue's own website, checked on October 3, 2026. For the full comparison of which bar suits which mood, read our best rooftop bars in Bangkok roundup.
Hours and rules change, so treat this as the checklist to run through before you go, and confirm with the venue on the day.

What to wear
Almost every venue here asks for smart casual, but the details differ. lebua applies one code across The Dome: sleeveless shirts for men, athletic wear, flip-flops and swimwear are not allowed. Above Eleven bans sandals, flip-flops and Birkenstocks, asks men for fully covered toes, rules out sleeveless T-shirts for men and backpacks and luggage, and says a similar code applies to children. Spectrum at Hyatt Regency lists no sandals, flip-flops or open-toe shoes, no sleeveless or vest-style shirts, and no sportswear or team jerseys. The Speakeasy only recommends smart casual, and hands out 1920s-style props at the door for guests who want to dress the part. Red Sky does not publish a code, so ask when you book.
Large bags are the other common snag. lebua does not allow large bags, suitcases or shopping bags at The Dome and offers no storage, and Tichuca checks every bag at the door. Our guide to what to wear in Bangkok covers the rest of the wardrobe.

Reservations and walk-ins
Sky Bar is walk-in only and asks for a minimum of one drink per person; it serves drinks only, so for a meal in the same building book Sirocco instead. Tichuca is also walk-in only and free to enter, but it asks for original ID: foreign guests need an original passport, and photos or digital copies are not accepted. It admits guests aged 20 and over. Above Eleven, Red Sky and The Speakeasy all take reservations, and The Speakeasy books through SevenRooms and strongly recommends reserving, especially on weekends and DJ nights. Octave takes table bookings through the hotel's reservation link.
Weather and timing
Most of these bars open between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., so you can arrive before dark and stay for the lights. The Speakeasy is the one that addresses rain directly: its 24th-floor terrace has a retractable roof, and the venue says the open-air 25th floor and its domes close their roofs during rain. For the other bars, ask about wet-weather plans before you commit a table.

Bars that sell a ticket or a package
Three heights come with something you can buy in advance. Sky Beach, the rooftop bar at the MahaNakhon tower, is first come, first served, and Klook lists a Sky Beach ticket. Baiyoke Sky's deck ticket includes one drink at its Roof Top Bar on the 83rd floor, and the hotel lists the bar's hours as 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dinner service; see our comparison of the Bangkok sky decks for the tickets. Klook also lists a dinner voucher at Breeze by lebua whose title mentions Sky Bar access; read the product page for what it covers, and note that lebua itself says Sky Bar takes no reservations.
BangkokVacay earns a commission from Klook if you book through the links in this article, at no extra cost to you.
Closed for now: Vertigo and Moon Bar
Banyan Tree Bangkok's website says Vertigo and Moon Bar on the 61st floor are temporarily closed for renovation, with reopening on December 2, 2026, and that Vertigo Too on the 60th floor reopens in early November 2026. The hotel's Saffron Sky Garden, a casual rooftop bar on the 52nd floor, is listed as open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. See the Banyan Tree Bangkok listing for the hotel.
Alcohol rules to know
The Tourism Authority of Thailand's May 29, 2026 notice says alcohol may generally be sold from 11 a.m. to midnight, that the legal drinking age is 20, and that sales can be restricted around elections and major religious days. It adds that hours differ for hotels and licensed entertainment venues, so follow each venue's published last-order times. Our page on what time bars close in Bangkok has more.
Getting there
Most of these bars sit near the BTS. Tichuca's site names Thonglor station, and The Speakeasy's names Chidlom, a 5-minute walk away. Above Eleven offers free parking at Fraser Suites Sukhumvit.
