Capella Bangkok is the small one among Bangkok's top riverside hotels: 101 rooms, suites and villas in low-rise buildings on the east bank of the Chao Phraya, most of them facing the water. It holds Three MICHELIN Keys, the guide's highest hotel distinction, and its French-Italian restaurant, Côte by Mauro Colagreco, holds two MICHELIN stars. It suits couples, families who want space, and travelers who plan a trip around dinner, with the usual riverside trade-off of relying on a boat to reach the Skytrain.

Location and getting around
Capella stands at 300/2 Charoen Krung Road in Yan Nawa, Sathon, where Charoen Krung, which the hotel describes as the city's oldest paved road, runs down to the river. The hotel's culture pages date the road to 1861, in the reign of King Rama IV, and the old trading district around it is the setting the hotel leans on for its walks and outings. The complimentary resort boat goes to ICONSIAM and to Sathorn Pier, where the BTS Skytrain connects at Saphan Taksin, and that is the practical way into the rest of the city. By car you will depend on traffic.
The immediate neighbor is Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at 300/1, whose cocktail bar, BKK Social Club, is an easy evening out without a taxi. For wider exploring, each guest is assigned a Capella Culturist, a personal assistant who plans outings before arrival and during the stay, including walks through Charoen Krung's cafés and galleries.
Rooms, suites and villas
Every room has either a private balcony or a riverside verandah with a jacuzzi plunge pool, and that is the key choice. Entry rooms start at 61 square meters with floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony, and the Riverfront Premier rooms sit on levels 5 to 10 for a higher outlook. The Verandah categories trade height for ground-level space at the water, with a terrace, a sala and the plunge pool.
At the top of the range, seven villas stand at the river's edge with private gardens, plunge pools and their own pathway, and villa stays include airport transfers, daily breakfast and fast-track arrival. Check-in and check-out happen in your room rather than at a front desk.
Dining and bars
For a hotel of this size, the dining is unusually serious. Côte by Mauro Colagreco cooks the food of the Riviera between Nice and Genoa in a second-floor room with river views, holds two MICHELIN stars in the 2026 Thailand guide, and opens for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday only, so plan a Monday or Tuesday arrival around that. Phra Nakhon, the all-day Thai restaurant in a glass conservatory in the riverside garden, is also in the MICHELIN selection, which points to its southern Thai dishes and seafood.
Stella is the Art Deco cocktail bar, with a menu that reworks Thai ingredients and live music from Wednesday to Sunday. The Tea Lounge serves afternoon tea with a dessert trolley from Executive Pastry Chef Paulo Bairan's team, facing the river and a lily pond, and KIN, next to Phra Nakhon, is the hotel's patisserie shop. Côte, Stella and the Tea Lounge ask for smart casual dress, while Phra Nakhon is resort casual. All reservations go through the hotel's own restaurant team.
Pool, spa and fitness
The riverside infinity pool is kept at 28°C and stays open around the clock, with attendants during the day, and the fitness center is also open 24 hours, with classes such as Hatha yoga, tai chi and anti-gravity yoga. Auriga Wellness occupies a garden by the river with seven treatment suites, two of them for couples, plus water therapy and a vitality pool. Its treatments draw on Thai, Chinese, Indian and European traditions, from Tok Sen hammer massage to Biologique Recherche facials.
The Living Room, a river-facing lounge open only to hotel guests, doubles as a cultural program: meditation led by a monk from Wat Suthi, flower-garland weaving, Khon dance and Thai instruments, and an evening cocktail ritual on the terrace.
Families and pets
Two-bedroom family suites give children their own room without booking two. The Little Stars program sets up an in-room teepee and child-sized robes and slippers and runs activities such as painting a Khon mask, and babysitting is available on request. Children up to 11 stay free when sharing a parent's bed.
One dog of up to 10 kg is allowed per room, but it cannot be left alone in the room and is not allowed at the pool, the spa or the restaurants, apart from Phra Nakhon. Owners of larger dogs, or of cats, will find the Four Seasons next door more accommodating.
Who it suits, and the alternatives
Capella suits couples on a special trip, families who value a suite or villa over hotel facilities, and anyone who wants a two-star dinner a lift ride from bed. The hotel also reports a No. 2 ranking on The World's 50 Best Hotels 2026. It is less suited to travelers who want a lively lobby scene, a kids' club with set daily hours, or rail on the doorstep.
