That is less rain than May or the peak months of August to October. In practice, expect sunny or cloudy spells broken by showers and storms, and build some flexibility into your days. Events in June
June's calendar changes every year, so check the Tourism Authority of Thailand's monthly festival list before you go. Here is what June 2026 looked like, as a guide to the kind of thing to expect:
- Pride Month. Bangkok Pride's parade was held on May 31 in 2026, and Pride events carried on through June: ICONSIAM ran a celebration from June 1 to 30, CentralWorld's program ran from May 30 to June 30, and One Bangkok hosted a Pride run on June 7.
- Art and performance. The Jim Thompson Art Center staged a live art and performance program on June 6 and 7, 2026, and the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre was one of the forum venues for Bangkok Pride.
- Film. The Bangkok Bicycle Film Festival was held at ChangChui Creative Park on June 27 and 28, 2026.
Outside the capital, June is the month for provincial festivals such as the Phi Ta Khon ghost festival in Dan Sai, Loei, which is worth knowing about if you are traveling on through Thailand.
Temples and the Old City, early in the day
Mornings are usually the most comfortable time for the big outdoor sights, before the heat peaks and before afternoon storms. The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and, across the river, Wat Arun make a natural half-day together. All three expect covered shoulders and knees. Close by, Museum Siam is an easy indoor follow-on when it clouds over.
Museums and galleries for the afternoon
When a storm rolls in, head indoors:
- The Jim Thompson House, a cluster of traditional teak houses holding Jim Thompson's Asian art collection, with the Art Center on the same site.
- The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, linked to BTS National Stadium.
- SEA LIFE Bangkok in Siam Paragon, a good choice with children.
Eat and shop under a roof
June weather is a good excuse for long lunches. Getting around in June
Heavy afternoon rain slows Bangkok's roads quickly, so lean on the rail lines. For the Old City temples, which sit away from most stations, the river boats are the usual alternative to a taxi. Choosing a hotel within a short walk of a station saves a lot of wet waiting at the curb.
It also helps to keep each day loose. Pair one outdoor sight in the morning with one indoor plan for the afternoon, and carry a compact umbrella; the temperature stays warm, so a rain jacket is optional.
Evenings
For a night out that does not depend on a dry sky, Muay Thai at Rajadamnern Stadium is fought under the stadium's dome seven nights a week.
