For hot or rainy days, Siam is the best base: SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World and the MELAND play park are both inside Siam Paragon on BTS Siam, and the free Bangkok Art and Culture Centre is one stop away. Museum Siam, in the Old City, is the most child-friendly museum in Bangkok.
SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World
SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World fills the two basement floors of Siam Paragon with a coral reef, jellyfish, a walk-through ocean tunnel with sharks and rays, and a chilled room of gentoo penguins. MELAND at Siam Paragon
MELAND, on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon, is an indoor playground covering 5,000 square meters, with five themed zones and more than 50 play scenarios, according to the mall. It is the brand's first flagship outside China. Pair it with SEA LIFE for a full indoor day without leaving the building.
Museum Siam
Museum Siam asks what makes something Thai, across 14 rooms of interactive displays, a dress-up photo studio and replica classrooms, in a 1922 building at Tha Tien. Entry is free for children under 15, and MRT Sanam Chai Exit 1 is signed for the museum. It combines well with a morning at Wat Pho, also in the Tha Tien area.

For animals, choose between Safari World, a full day on the northeastern edge of the city, and two central options: the aquarium at Siam Paragon and the Snake Farm on Rama IV Road, where staff handle venomous snakes in front of an audience at set times.
Safari World
Safari World, in Khlong Sam Wa, is two parks in one: a Safari Park you drive through among free-roaming animals, in your own car or a park coach, and a Marine Park you walk around, with a program of animal and stunt shows. The Snake Farm
The Snake Farm at Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute belongs to a Thai Red Cross institute that makes antivenom. Children can watch venom extraction and snake handling demonstrations and learn which of Thailand's snakes are dangerous. Go in the morning at weekends, when the farm closes at 1 p.m.
Is there a theme park or water park in Bangkok?
Yes. Siam Amazing Park, long known as Siam Park City, is an amusement park and water park in Khan Na Yao, in east Bangkok. One ticket covers roller coasters, family rides and a wave pool that the park says Guinness World Records certified as the world's largest.
Siam Amazing Park prices tickets by height rather than age, and children under 100 cm go free. The water park has strict swimwear rules, so pack proper swimsuits. The nearest rail link is MRT Pink Line Nopparat, then a bus or motorcycle taxi, so a taxi is simpler with small children. Which parks in Bangkok are good for children?
Lumphini Park and Benjakitti Park are the best central parks for children, with lakes, boats, paths and playgrounds, and both are free. Benjasiri Park at Phrom Phong has a playground between the malls, and Suan Luang Rama IX in the east has boats and a swimming pool for a longer day.
- Lumphini Park rents swan paddle boats and rowing boats on its lake, and its Lan Tawan Yim area has playgrounds.
- Benjakitti Park has a playground, a skate park, pedal boats and kayaks on its ponds, and a 1.6 km elevated skywalk.
- Suan Luang Rama IX, a botanic garden in Prawet, charges 10 baht for entry and rents paddle boats.

What can older kids and teens do in Bangkok?
Older children and teenagers tend to enjoy heights, hands-on activities and evening markets. The Mahanakhon SkyWalk glass floor, a family cooking class and the Ferris wheel at Asiatique The Riverfront all work well for this age group.
- The Mahanakhon SkyWalk has a glass floor 310 meters above the street on the 78th-floor roof, and the I-Tilt ride on the 75th floor for riders between 120 and 200 cm tall.
- Baipai Thai Cooking School runs a family class for adults and children aged 7 and up.
- Asiatique The Riverfront has a 60-meter Ferris wheel, and a free shuttle boat runs there from Sathorn Pier in the evening.
Tips for visiting Bangkok with kids

- Take a car to the big parks. Safari World and Siam Amazing Park are far from the center and not on the Skytrain.
- Check closing days. Museum Siam and the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre close on Mondays, and Safari World does not list Monday opening.
